"Dancers and Bands" is a Ghost Light TV mini series that uses Around the Stage dancers to create dance pieces that portray the different styles of music found within local Reno, NV bands. Around the Stage Company Dancer Ellen Duffy was selected to choreograph a piece for the "Dancers and Bands" Ghost Light TV series. Her selected local Reno band was Weapons of Mass Creation and the selected song was "Monsters" Ellen Duffy is a dance enthusiast based in Las Vegas, NV. She is a graduate of the Las Vegas Academy of Performing and Visual Arts and received her BA in Journalism with a minor in Dance from the University of Nevada, Reno. Ellen is a performer, choreographer, teacher, and arts administrator. She is a return curator to the Third Coast Film Festival and is interested in alternative showcases of dance as well as methods and practices in movement that incorporate storytelling and emotivity. Some of her favorite films have incorporated various technologies, animation, natural landscapes, and dance in unexpected places.
Weapons of Mass Creation (WMC) is a four-piece art rock band that combines different artistic forms and musical genres to highlight social injustice. Known for explosive and unpredictable live performances that often include different artistic elements such as film projections, live painting, dancers or performance art.
