Description:
Song is about Lech Walesa and the Poland's struggle for democracy, invited in the song are Joe Hill, (killed) union man. Special invite to Pope John Paul the 2nd. and Woody Guthrie.Bob Dylan.Joan Baez and other freedom fighters not to forget Joe Hill who was murdered the the Utah state authorities (the police). There role was and is to eliminate war and poverty. I added Tommy Douglas who gave us Health Care in Canada and Jack Layton who brought the New democratic Party to unseen heights in the political arena and Jane Jacobs who is an urban planner making sure the city's make room for the poor when planning new cities. All these people and let's not forget the Suffragette Movement and all freedom fighters for this song is about them. And is the word Democracy just another word for Capitalism ? Lately the news goes around how lawyers are ripping off the Canadian tax payers for millions and the tax watch dog says there is nothing we can do about it. They don't have to pay back the money. Let me say I don't wish for a 3rd world war but it seems to me we have come to far already and maybe it's what it'll take to straighten out these oligarchies which are not only in Russia. We need more freedom songs. Where have we gone when police gestapo beat up on clowns in the streets of Canada. Street performers hardly make enough money to survive never mind buyind a license, that's why they are on the streets putting smiles on peoples faces. Didn't the Nazis start out like that? It's okay for the government to rob us blind but watch out for that street singer eh! he may sell a few C.D's and not pay taxes yet there's all kind of corruption going on in the government and we take it but watch that street performer. Ladies and gentlemen of Canada wake up here. This song is all about the rise against the machine who has forgotten about the poor. Recorded at Snocan recording studio in Ottawa ON. Canada situated on Holly Lane Dr. (now closed) It was produced by Dave Dennison. Background vocal harmony is Rick Evans also from Ottawa. and tapping on the piano top was famed country drummer and hall of famer from Ottawa, Sam Henry.
