Description:
Cornwall On. Canada is the best darn city in the world to live in! The folks here are down to earth and view is fantastic. There's everything you need here. By the way this is the second recording of this song. The original was recorded at Snocan Recording Studio on Hollylane Blvd in Ottawa,On. Canada. On the program was Dave Dennison who played lead and produced it. Also was Sam Henry on drums, Rick Evans on harmony and somebody else on bass and when I remember I'll mention it here. It was my day off from the pipeline where I was working as a skidder operator pulling welding rigs for Loram Construction and later on for Nor-Pipe. My mom was visiting me from Timmins ON.Canada where we were standing on the shores of the St.Lawrence river in awe watching the Royal Yatch Britannia just majestically cruising up the river towards Upper Canada Village, this gave my an idea for a song. My little brother Gerry was playing at the National Hotel on 2nd st,W. (Now a strip joint) with Gerry Brown and Miss Elaine, (Shirley Fields) Canada's yoodelling sweetheart of which I eventually joined the group. Also a mention that Lancaster Perch is a delicacy in the Cornwall area restaurants and alway good for fishing. The St Lawrence river my old friends and me (The Cornwall ON.song) Big river I dreamed your freighters callin From a little Cornwall town a little west of Montreal The cornfields and the smokestacks I am seein The St Lawrence river my old friends and me I recall the place where we danced until mornin Just across the tracks where the paper mill boys go T'was a long hard winter and Buck said he was leavin For the strike is over and new seeds he will sow And I wonder if the folks will recognize me For my hair has turned from coal to a little snow Chorus: Musical interlude on an amogalation from C chord to d major I wonder if little brother is still playin (Played with with Miss Elaine & Gerry Brown For he picks guitar in a hillbilly band at the National Hotel on 2nd st W) And mom is worried sick how Lisa's doin (my sister) She would have been a star if given a decent chance And I hear Lancaster perch are good for fishin For the ice had broke on the Seaway Valley Line Bookings for Festivals an personal appearances paulhenryd@yahoo.com Chorus: end.
