Born and bred at KwaNongoma KZN. He is the 8th child of late Mr and Mrs Ntombela, who named him Nduduzo Freedom Ntombela. uMphostoli was born under a Christian family, this is one of the reasons who loves Gospel Music. He started his early school at Fundukhuphuke Primary and completed his matric at Hambangendlela High School. He then went to Bible College and was ordained as a Pastor in 2005, where he served in a church as a Pastor. He also grew his talent by participating in church choirs. Through the love of music he also grew fond of acting. uMphostoli is married and blessed with 4 kids. He was a member of Mtubatuba Voice Group, he later decided to take his own path. He first started writing songs for different artists and some of the songs went viral and are well known. He produced his first Gospel Album titled uMbulali Wami under his stage name uMphostoli. uMbulali Wami is a warm beautiful art work that showcases the love one has for music.
