At first glance, one might wonder if she escaped from someone's knick-knack box or the page of a storybook filled with enchanted tales and unpredictable endings. Upon encounter, one may find the magnifying glass obsolete and that Kung Fu Sophie does not fit well into confined spaces.  This artist, described as having “a pixyish presence and powerful originality,” has been deemed an elusive alien at times. However, some humans on Planet Earth have likened her to musical earthlings Joanna Newsom, Regina Spektor, Rickie Lee Jones, and even the performance artist Laurie Anderson. Kung Fu Sophie was born and raised in the Biggest Little City in the World but has also performed in Australia, Canada, England and across the United States. Primarily a solo performer, this singer/songwriter plays guitar and piano and has been heard on radio stations locally and beyond. Her EP/CD entitled “Short Kiss Bliss” was dubbed “Favorite Local Artist CD of 2008” by Discology. Watch out and listen up for a new kick-**** release this year. Less
