Jason King Hipolito Roxas, who performs under the name Jason King, was born in Quezon City, Philippines, a small town just outside of Manila. His family immigrated to the United States and settled in Northern Nevada when Jason was only 8 years old. Jason has always exhibited a talent for art and music, and learned to play the guitar at an early age. Though he is mostly self-taught, he seldom passed up the opportunity to learn from any musician or performer he encountered. Through the years Jason has evolved into an accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He crafts his songs from his extensive musical past with influences ranging from the Allman Brothers to Led Zeppelin, and everything in between. His soulful approach to performing and songwriting is evident in every note that he plays and in every song that he sings. Jason King has been a part of the region's musical landscape for over a decade. Jason performs regularly as a solo artist, as well as with his group, the Jason King Band. As a solo artist, you can catch Jason and his acoustic guitar at different venues all over Northern Nevada and the Tahoe/Truckee area. The Guitar Bar (Boomtown Casino Hotel), HQ Bar (MontBleu Resort), 3rd Street Lounge (Sands Regency), Lone Eagle Grill (Incline Hyatt), Harrah's Hotel & Casino, Northstar Resort, Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel, the Alpine, Shim's Surplus Supplies, Walley's Hot Springs Resorts, and Midtown Spirits, Wine & Bites are some of the places in which Jason has been in regular rotation. With the Jason King Band, Jason has performed at the biggest festivals and events in the area such as The Great El Dorado BBQ, Brews, & Blues Festival, the Best of the West Rib Cook-off, WingFest, Street Vibrations, and Hot August Nights. The Jason King Band represented Northern Nevada and the Reno Blues Society at the 2010, 2011, and 2012 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. The group has performed regularly in the Bay Area's premier blues club, Biscuits & Blues, as well as being guest performers at the Sin City Soul & Blues Revival and the Big Blues Bender, in Las Vegas, NV. In 2016 Jason received the Forté Award for Best Guitarist With A Group, with the Jason King Band taking home the Forté Award for Best Blue Group.   Less
