About Ten Dollar Pony: Based in a “vocal-centric” aesthetic, their lively blend of original and cover tunes encompasses many styles…folk, pop, blues, and country rock to name a few. Whether delivering intimate and heart wrenching ballads with warm harmonies, or raucous blues, their music ranges from sweet to wryly observant, to perversely funny, all served up with intelligence and wit. They have spent a lot of time on stage together over the last 8 years… and it shows. Singer-songwriter Larry Nair has been performing his songs for the last 12 years all over the Tahoe / Reno / Carson city area, and on occasion as far afield as Colorado, Minnesota, and North Carolina. He’s recorded three CD’s …two with his rock band Playa Papaya, and one intimate collection of duets with PP’s back-up singer, Beth Oliveto. A guitar player for longer than he cares to discuss, he’s developed some impressive chops as a finger style guitarist, as well as a competent and entertaining stage presence. He is so into the guitar that he builds his own!! He’s a serious performer, but doesn’t take himself too seriously. Liza Beth Oliveto has sung in various groups around the Reno/Tahoe area including local favorite Playa Papaya, was part of the duo act with singer songwriter, John Richards, in Minneapolis, as well as doing some work with guitarist Lee Rosenblum. She’s done musical theater with the LTCC Community Center and the Nevada Civic Light Opera Co. Her delicate voicing of a lyric is sure to bring a smile or a tear. She takes co-writing credits on many of Larry’s songs. About Jake Houston: Jake Houston is a Northern Nevada singer/songwriter. His leanings are most definitely country but don’t make the mistake of stopping there. Jake brings an honesty and talent along with incredible musicianship that is undeniable.
