Growing up in Southwest Baltimore, Sears was dancing almost as soon as he could walk. Inspired by 90’s pop stars, like NSYNC, Usher, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears – as well as Total Request Live and the “old” Video Music Awards – he’d build a stage in his bedroom and practice his lyrics and moves until they were just right. “My mom used to scream. Stuff would be missing, She'd go in my room and I'd have the ladder. I'd have some curtains that were missing, and some old head phones that i cut up to look like stage headsets. I'd have all these random props in my room because I'd make like a little stage. It was real nerdy but I think that's when I really started.”  From dancing in his bedroom to high school valedictorian and alum of Steve Harvey’s first class at the Disney Dreamers Academy, the goal has always been to excel and surpass expectations.  He experiments musically, combining different genres, trying different beats and patterns, while focusing on writing from the heart, feeling the emotion in the music and being inspired by it. Urban Pop and EDM are two of Bret's biggest influences.  “I just want to create music that makes people dance in their underwear, feel good when they're down in the slumps and create melodies that get stuck in people's heads so bad that they have to apologize to their friends for consistently singing them. My favorite things to write about are concepts that involve rebellion, sexuality and heartbreak- what a combination.”  In the previous two years, Bret has worked with Lativan producer, Raivis Ordway on a pop duo project titled, "Casual Encounter". Not only have the two scored a play of their first single, "Keep on Fighting" in the Washington Nat's stadium, but they played Baltimore's national festival Artscape in 2017 with other acts such as TLC, after winning Bopa's (Baltimore Office of Promotion & Arts) Battle of the Bands at the Hard Rock Cafe.  “I think the biggest thing that I want to do is be experimental. I think it's important to have people that you can feel comfortable with and come out your comfort zone – be experimental with – because that's how the best songs are made.”  Talent, drive, and heart are what make Bret Michael Sears an artist to watch.
