Afrofuturistic multimedia artist April King is an MC, drummer, electronic musician, actress, green chef, educator & innovator. The daughter of two jazz musicians (Philip & Lori King).  April grew up influenced by everyone from Pharoah Sanders and Horace Silver to Alice Coltrane & Weather Report.  After getting her start recording with Ghanaian master drummer Obo Addy (Wonche Bi “Play the Drums For Me), King launched her career in Paris, France, working with musicians like Julien Lourau, Sambou Kouyate (Youssou N’Dour), the event Black Lily (The Roots) & more while playing Roland V-Drums & rapping.  Her first vocal features “The REAL New World” & “ B4” with Top Rocking on Q-Tape Records charted internationally.  10 years going strong, “Get Your Mind Right” produced by Inabeathead stays in rotation on MTVs worldwide.  King explores Afrofuturism through the lens of Hip Hop in her upcoming album “Life in 5D: An Afrofuture Odyssey.” Featuring colabs with Tra’zae (Parliament Funkadelic), The Architect (Souls of Mischief, Planet Asia) and Nya SevenSeedz, “Life in 5D” is in a genre of it’s own. With tracks like “Hit Me On The Astral” featuring King as a glowing, holographic fairy who we follow on a dream induced trip through an LED forest and the groundbreaking anthem “Womxn” where Mz. King spits FIRE *while* playing drums- this album is going places we have never seen before!
