Max Volume plays a mix of classic rock, blues and songs that combine a grungy tuning and fast pacing.Volume says he plays for the meditative qualities of music. "People don’t write good records when they’re fat and happy,” Volume says. “They write good records when they’re hungry, and its two days till payday.” Max Volume just might have the most recognizable voice on the Reno radio scene. Volume, born Glenn Bailey in Glendale, Calif., moved to Reno in the lat 1970s before taking his first radio internship at KOZZ in 1981. He's been called "The Monster Truck Of Acoustic Guitars". He cites his greatest influences as Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Pete Townshend, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, and Lindsay Buckingham. Max Volume grew up in the Glendale/ Burbank/ Pasadena area of Los Angeles, listening to all the British Rock he could find. Things really took off when he moved to Reno, Nevada, and became a Disc Jockey for KOZZ, KRZQ, and even Sacramento's KRXQ. He played in the critically acclaimed Meatal Band; Terraplane. “My girlfriend used to complain that I always listened to music at ‘Max Volume,’ so I ran with that,” he said in a recent interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal. ‘Max Volume’ wasn’t the first moniker he tried on, however. “I used silly names like Sandy Beach, Paul Molive, Otto Matic.” When he’s not playing classic rock anthems and hidden gems on the radio, he’s a performer in his own right, With seven albums to his credit.
