My sound? It’s so hard for me to quantify for others. I can write words for days, but this has always been a question I struggle with. My vocal and electric (no acoustic here) guitar styles are broadly dynamic, moving from atmospheric to jazzy and lithe, to grungy and reminiscent. I’ve been told I have an empathic quality to my presence, especially live. I’ll suck you right into every dip and groove along the way. My voice is full of honey and smoke in equal measure, and although no one (including myself) has ever been able to name an artist I sound like, I am often told of women my voice reminds others of (due to my style not just sound). Artists like Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Tash Sultana, Stevie Nicks, Etta James, and some of my favorite cover songs are written for male voices. My range is unique. I hop from genre to genre, and blend them when I can, in both my cover song choices and my original writings. I also love to play around with fun toys, like my retro telephone handset microphone, a pedal board full of things that let me create total soundscapes on my own. This isn’t your average looping. I like to create organic, changing soundscapes, and can lauer my own vocals live into the blend as well. Whether you’re a guitar nerd, or an enjoyer of good music that hits you in the chest, I’m your girl.  You can also find me out and about backing up other artist friends, and in my other two projects: the Sierra Sirens, and Kat Heart and the Business. The Sierra Sirens is a five piece, all female group of original songwriters with voices as unique as mine. We are all multi-instrumental, and sing up to five part harmonies. Expect surprises like cello, bari sax, accordion, a full drum kit, and more. Let me tell you, there is nothing in this world quite like getting into soulful little psych-rock-turned-indie-folk grooves with a group of your soul-sisters… Watch us flow, and I swear we will take your breath away. Kat Heart and the Business is an almost entirely original project between myself and three buddies, who I adore both on stage and as friends in life. With this group of ridiculously talented musicians playing tenor sax, bass, and drums, and myself on electric, this band holds my whole indie-rock lovin’ heart. It breathes the full vision of my original songs into life in a much more powerful way than I could ever create on my own. These guys are absolutely magical to play with.
