For 17-year-old rising star Erika Davidson, recording her first EP was a dream come true. Erika's self-titled debut album showcases the Reno native's soft yet edgy pop-country sound — a blend of dynamic vocals and catchy, inspirational melodies. Believing that songs should both entertain and inspire, Erika also wrote the lyrics for each of the album's six tracks. "Never in my 15 years of teaching have I seen a person with such a natural gift for melody and songwriting like Erika," says Eric Stangeland, Erika's award-winning guitar teacher and a renowned musician himself. "And she has the work ethic to match." Drawing from her own experiences and those around her, she would create a great pop sound. With the help from her guitar teacher Eric, Erika was able to find her voice. Putting together catchy melodic hooks, and driving guitar rhythms, her music compels her fans to sing along. Inspired by artists such as Taylor Swift and Mandy Moore, Erika works constantly to develop her skills as an all-around musician and performer. "I want to be able to excel in every aspect of entertainment. My guitar, vocal, piano and dance lessons will hopefully help me to be a better performer." says Erika. Erika's young career has been filled with accolades. In addition to being selected for the MADE IN RENO showcases in 2009 and 2010, Erika's recent accomplishments include the feature film “SPOTLIGHT,” produced by Knifeblock Productions, and the part of Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls,” put on by McQueen High School. She has performed with the Sierra School of Performing Arts and the Tahoe Players, both community theaters. Erika has also starred in more than 10 local commercials, and has been cast as a "discovery" in a national TV show scheduled to launch this April. When not on stage, Erika models for a variety of local photographers. Notable appearances include with Reno-Tahoe Photography, Carson Valley Photo, and Stephen Lee. Her musical journey has just begun, and with her infectious sound she is excited in taking the next big step in her career. Less
