The indie garage-rock four piece met each other years ago in the proverbial crossroads of the skate and music scene of Tampa, Florida. Esteban Martinez, bassist, and Gabriel “Salad” Perez, vocalist and guitarist, are distant cousins and long time family friends. Micah Gilbert, drummer, and Matt Hartshorn, vocalist and guitarist, went to middle school together and start casually playing music together as kids. The friendship and comradery between the four developed naturally—and the music followed soon thereafter. Every member of the band is a songwriter, and the diversity is transparent in their music. Some songs are slow ballads while others are niche rock tunes with distinct guitar riffs, with Salad and Matt trading lead and rhythm guitar back and forth with seamless ease. They often harmonize together on songs, with Micah chiming in from time to time from behind the kit to offer a third vocal. They play in coffee shops, backyards, living rooms, skate parks, bars and small venues across the Tampa Bay area as well as scoring opening slots for popular bands like Post Animal, White Reaper, The Nude Party, and Good Morning. They’ve already secured a dedicated hometown fanbase and created a palpable streaming footprint within two years of the band’s creation. They’ll play just about anywhere where people will listen. And wherever they perform-—people always do. And no, no one in the band is actually named Charles. Less
